04/08/2021: Mercy Housing and Shelter
Our team donated 100 travel-sized kits of shampoo, conditioner, and soap to Mercy Housing and Shelter in Hartford, Connecticut, a corporation that provides housing assistance and supportive services to persons who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
In addition to their 40 shelter residents, Mercy Housing recently re-opened their Friendship Center Soup Kitchen, which serves breakfast and lunch to those in the community who might otherwise go without a meal. Their breakfast crowd has approximately 30 individuals and lunch can range from 30-40, and due to their recent re-opening they only expect those numbers to increase. The kits will be given out to the community during those mealtimes, as most of them are on foot and need to travel lightly, as well as the residents of the shelter.

04/10/2021: Sasha Bruce Youthwork Independent Living Program
We distributed 195 travel-sized shampoo, 56 conditioner, and 108 toothpaste to Sasha Bruce Youthwork Independent Living Program located in the heart of Washington, D.C. The Independent Living Program provides residential services for homeless young people ages 18 – 24 years old who are unable to return home. The ILP program offers apartment-style living for teenagers unable to return home due to absent or severely dysfunctional families or to young people transitioning out of foster care homes. When individuals are able to move out on their own, ILP counselors help them find apartments and roommates and provide follow-up support to help them achieve stability.
